Counseling with me is a safe place to feel heard and understood. Where we can explore the "how" and "why" behind the brokenness in your life and discover healing through the connections God created you to have. I partner with women and couples to help them with life’s uncertainties by getting beyond the frustration of reactive emotions to discover their deepest needs and longings and move toward experiencing the transformative power of intimate connections.
Using EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) - where relationships are everything - I help my clients move from insecure relationships where they may feel abandoned, rejected, or alone to more secure ones where they experience a haven of safety. A place where they do matter. A place where they feel heard and understood. A place of healing.
My Story and why I do this work
The diverse experiences that God has brought into my life enrich how I counsel. Key in those experiences is my marriage of over 40 years. The beginning years were difficult ones, but we’ve grown a lot in our years together. We’ve experienced highs and lows in our relationship, yet I can honestly say I love him more today than yesterday!
Our marriage has always been linked to ministry and in ministry, my husband and I experienced the heartbreak of betrayal that ended 38 years of pastoral ministry. So I know what it’s like to be in the quicksand where I couldn’t breathe. Where it was over my head. I’ve been hurt by people I trusted and wondered if I would ever trust again.
At times it felt like it was just my husband and me and at other times even that connection was tested. We both processed the pain of broken trust and resulting grief differently. It tested our relationship where at times we felt separated from each other and alone in our pain.
I’ve discovered the healing, the understanding, and the harmony that God, through His Word and EFT, has brought into my life. I want to help you find that same healing, that same understanding, and that same harmony that God can bring to you.
Clients describe me as being able to help them explore deeper within themselves.
One client described me as “digging a pit” that exposed them to what they had been avoiding for many years. They said that it was me joining them in the pit that gave them the courage to stop avoiding.
I provide a safe place to stay in the uncomfortable, to explore the why behind your struggles. I ask questions that help clients explore their innermost feelings and thoughts to help them discover the answers that can lead to healing and wholeness. I give them a safe place where we can look at the cause of their brokenness and find the way to put the pieces back together.
Let me help you learn to be still and gain God’s perspective of where you are.
You don’t have to be alone in that pit. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…You are with me” (Psalm 23:4). I would love to join you and God in that “pit” so that together we can walk out of the darkness of brokenness into the light of hope.
