Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. As an out-of-network provider, I am currently not on any insurance panels and do not participate in any Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). Many insurances do not cover marriage counseling and those that do require a diagnosis for coverage. Although as a licensed mental health counselor with the state of Florida I have the training to diagnose, I prefer not to as this can be a negative label that follows an individual with them throughout their lifetime. Insurance companies mandate the number of sessions per diagnosis and are able to request files for review. Not utilizing insurance companies allows me and the client the freedom to determine their best path toward healing as well as protecting their private information.

  • Did you know the average cost of a wedding, which lasts for one day, is $22,500? If you’re contemplating a divorce, did you know the average cost in Florida is around $14,000? Why not use that money and invest in your marriage? Marriage counseling is a smart financial strategy that benefits your marital relationship, as well as your emotional and mental health. Ultimately, how long counseling lasts and, therefore, your financial investment, will be determined by how quickly you can embrace the necessary changes to achieve your goals. The investment you make in therapy will pay off for a lifetime.

  • Yes. I’ve seen couples come in and make life-changing progress toward a more secure connection. However, this does involve being willing to take risks. You may experience a “honeymoon” period after making that initial contact for counseling. You’re experiencing hope in your relationship maybe for the first time in a long time. You may also begin to feel things worsening now that you are in therapy. That’s not a bad sign, though, as we’re beginning to explore some new things and shed light on sensitive areas that may have been ignored for some time. As a certified EFT therapist, I utilize what I believe to be the best counseling method for couples. But don’t take my word for it, look it up! EFT is an evidenced-based model that has a 90% improvement rate and for couples who complete the therapy, it has a 70-75% success rate. EFT helps couples move from insecure relationships to more secure ones where they can begin to just enjoy being around each other again.
